Dunkin' Donuts is moving into a library as part of its
plan to increase its presence in Indiana. It will open
in the Allen County library next week. The company
announced plans earlier this year to open 20 new stores
in the Fort Wayne area, creating about 200 jobs. Dunkin'
is also planning to officially open a new location in
Anderson this week and an Indianapolis-based restaurant
group says it has plans to open 40 franchises in Central
Indiana over the next five years, creating about 2,000
jobs.
Fort Wayne, Ind. -- November 24 marks the Grand Opening
of the newest Dunkin' Donuts location, inside the
downtown Allen County Public Library. Grand opening
festivities will include ribbon cutting with
representatives from the Mayor's office and Chamber of
Commerce. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
The new store will be open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 9
p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5
p.m. A separate entrance to Dunkin' Donuts will be
available during hours the library is closed. The menu
is set to include pastries, cookies, muffins, flatbread
sandwiches, pizzas and beverages. Free parking will be
offered in the Wayne and Webster or Washington and
Webster library lots with a validated parking ticket.
Formerly opened in the library as the Brickhouse Café
and Creamery, the same owners, Kim and Gavin Hart
operate the new Dunkin' Donuts franchise. They also own
the Dunkin' Donuts on Coldwater Road, as well as six
Dairy Queen franchises in Fort Wayne.
Gavin Hart stated, "We're extremely excited to be able
to serve the downtown area from this prime location in
the Library. With the new stadium only a block away,
we're proud to be part of the revitalization process and
look forward to serving not only the library patrons and
staff, but also the entire downtown business community,
area residents and visitors. Our long range goal is to
establish a total of 20 Dunkin' Donuts locations in the
area. We want to make sure everyone has a chance to
enjoy America's best coffee."
Mr. Hart is referring to a recent blind taste test,
where more Americans preferred the taste of Dunkin'
Donuts coffee over Starbucks. In all, 54.2% preferred
Dunkin' Donuts coffee, compared to 39.3% who chose
Starbucks. 6.3% expressed no preference. In business for
over 50 years, they are the world's largest coffee and
baked goods chain, serving more than three million
customers per day. Dunkin' Donuts sells 52 varieties of
donuts, more than a dozen coffee beverages plus an array
of bagels, breakfast sandwiches and other baked goods.
Cheryl Ferverda, Community Relations Spokesperson for
the Allen County Public Library, added, "We're very
pleased to continue the relationship with Kim and Gavin
Hart under the Dunkin' Donuts franchise. Their presence
in the Library offers our visitors a unique opportunity
to hopefully extend the length of their visits...
especially true in our highly popular genealogy
department. The Allen County Public Library is happy to
be able to provide a platform for further enhancing the
growth of the downtown area through the introduction of
new businesses that benefit our diverse population." |
