Coffee's Q2 loss narrows

Caribou Coffee Company has reported a net loss of $2.5
million, or $0.13 per share, for the second quarter
ended June 29, 2008, compared to $3.9 million, or $0.20
per share, for the same period in 2007.
Net sales were $63.2 million, an increase of 0.5%
compared to $62.8 million for the same quarter in 2007.
Coffeehouse sales were $57.3 million, a decrease of 3.5%
from the same period in 2007. The decrease primarily
reflects a 1.7% decline in comparable coffeehouse sales
and 318 fewer operating coffeehouse weeks in the second
13 weeks of fiscal 2008 as compared to the same period
in fiscal 2007.
For the first six months ended June 29, 2008, net loss
was $8.84 million, or $0.46 per share, compared to $7.14
million, or $0.37 per share, in the same period of 2007.
Total net sales were $124.94 million, compared to
$124.70 million in the same period of 2007. Coffeehouse
sales were $113.89 million, compared to $117.41 million
in the same period of 2007. |
